It's that time of year again, folks!!

Last year I didn't go to the Oscars, but I might this year. You'll just have to watch and find out! ;) Here are my predictions for this year. Let's see if I can get more right than I did last year. Again, the people I think are going to win are in red, and all the losers are in other colours.

ACTOR IN A LEADING ROLE
Johnny Depp - PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: THE CURSE OF THE BLACK PEARL
Ben Kingsley - HOUSE OF SAND AND FOG
Jude Law - COLD MOUNTAIN
Bill Murray - LOST IN TRANSLATION
Sean Penn - MYSTIC RIVER

I really think my main man Johnny Depp is long overdue for this one. I didn't see Pirates of the Caribbean, but I saw the trailer and some TV spots, and I think he looks really hilarious and gay in it, so I'm going to say Deppy.

ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE
Alec Baldwin - THE COOLER
Benicio Del Toro - 21 GRAMS
Djimon Hounsou - IN AMERICA
Tim Robbins - MYSTIC RIVER
Ken Watanabe - THE LAST SAMURAI

I saw The Last Samurai, and I thought that Ken Watanabe totally out-acted Tom Cruise, which I think is a daring thing to do. Seeing as Tom Cruise was married to Nicole Kidman.

ACTRESS IN A LEADING ROLE
Keisha Castle-Hughes - WHALE RIDER
Diane Keaton - SOMETHING'S GOTTA GIVE
Samantha Morton - IN AMERICA
Charlize Theron - MONSTER
Naomi Watts - 21 GRAMS

I'd love to see Diane Keaton win, because she was great to me on the set of Marvin's Room, but you know, I think that little Keisha Castle-Hughes has a good chance. She's a newbie, but everyone loves an underdog, which she certainly is, up against Charliez Theron in Monster. I saw Monster, and I wasn't too impressed. I could've played that role in my sleep.

ACTRESS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE
Shohreh Aghdashloo - HOUSE OF SAND AND FOG
Patricia Clarkson - PIECES OF APRIL
Marcia Gay Harden - MYSTIC RIVER
Holly Hunter - THIRTEEN
Renée Zellweger - COLD MOUNTAIN

I have to say, I love Renee Zellweger's lips. She's got that sexy pouty thing going on that really rattles my soul. And there's something about her that reminds me of someone I knew on Live Journal...

THE TRIPLETS OF BELLEVILLE

If Nemo doesn't win this, I will just die!!

CINEMATOGRAPHY
CITY OF GOD
COLD MOUNTAIN
GIRL WITH A PEARL EARRING
MASTER AND COMMANDER: THE FAR SIDE OF THE WORLD
SEABISCUIT

Dude, I'd love to hand this one to Seabiscuit, but I really think that City of God was much better. Cinematographly... The chicken in the middle of the road. What can one say? The symbolism is creepy.

COSTUME DESIGN
GIRL WITH A PEARL EARRING
THE LAST SAMURAI
THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RETURN OF THE KING

Dude. Me and Erik agree that it's LOTR all the way. Peter Jackson is long overdue for every award he can get, y'alls!

DIRECTING
CITY OF GOD
THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RETURN OF THE KING
LOST IN TRANSLATION
MASTER AND COMMANDER: THE FAR SIDE OF THE WORLD
MYSTIC RIVER

It's so going to Peter Jackson!! If it doesn't I'll cry. I mean, last year I was all for Scorsese and he didn't win, so I really think if Peter Jackson doesn't win I'm going to lose it.

DOCUMENTARY FEATURE
BALSEROS
CAPTURING THE FRIEDMANS
THE FOG OF WAR
MY ARCHITECT
THE WEATHER UNDERGROUND

I've heard a lot about Capturing the Friedmans, but really, I've heard TOO much. It's made it so I don't ever want to see it. And so I don't want it to win. My Architect all the way.

DOCUMENTARY SHORT SUBJECT
ASYLUM

FERRY TALES

I really think this is the movie to reckon with this year. I love the name.

VISUAL EFFECTS
THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RETURN OF THE KING
MASTER AND COMMANDER: THE FAR SIDE OF THE WORLD
PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: THE CURSE OF THE BLACK PEARL

Me and Erik agree. LOTR. All the way. But I also didn't mind Master and Commander. I mean, when that dude got sliced open, and you saw his ribs, and it was all bloody and disgusting... that's still in my nightmares at night. With the charging Orcs ...Or did I dream that scene?

WRITING (ADAPTED SCREENPLAY)
AMERICAN SPLENDOR
CITY OF GOD
THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RETURN OF THE KING
MYSTIC RIVER
SEABISCUIT

I'm going to have to pick an oddball this time! Mystic River, I thought, was a great script. I mean, that one line, that one one... you know.. When Sean Penn is crying and he says he can't even cry for his own daughter, and then Tim Robbins *sobs!!* HE SAYS THAT HE IS CRYING!!!! *cries!!!*

WRITING (ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY)
THE BARBARIAN INVASIONS
DIRTY PRETTY THINGS
FINDING NEMO
IN AMERICA
LOST IN TRANSLATION

Nemo, man. You can't beat Nemo.

This year was almost TOO easy. I'm sort of disappointed. Especially in the academy. Man, I hate those guys. Like, why do you have to (and I was saying this to Claire just the other day) have a movie out recently to be nominated? Now Charlie Chaplin can never win for that one where he eats the shoe! Way to go, you bastards!!

Also, I find that people are most remembered if they do something nutty or weird or whatever during their acceptance speeches. Like when Adrien Brody kissed Halle Berry last year, or when Michael Moore said the thing about Bush, you know, so when I win, I'm going to pull down my pants, okay? I'm going to moon the audience. That'll get me in the memory banks of people. Or perhaps, I'll explode myself on stage. LOL! JK! Yeah, or trip and pretend I'm totally hurt and ahahahhaha!!! That one was Erik's. Erik's wondering why he's never been nominated. Because, my son, you haven't done anything really big recently.

Gotta flee! Oh, and me and Erik want 50 First Dates to be nominated for best picture next year. And I want Eurotrip to win for best original screenplay. AHHAHA!! And I want The Aviator to get me the golden statuette. Beotches. ;P

♥-Leo

P.S. What's with snubbing that Russian Ark movie, y'alls?
P.P.S. And John Anthony Gillis didn't get a nom for Cold Mountain?! Y'alls are fucked in the brains!
